@nicole I hate viral software licenses. I absolutely loathe the GPL, and the AGPL is an extension of it.
The GPL is the antithesis of "free" because it locks down what you're allowed to do with software and limits what you're allowed to work with in the process, while at the same time it's totally okay with letting others steal your work and claim it as their own
@KS I guess I've never really understood this-- viral licensing is only a problem if you want to use someone else's work, in which case it's quite reasonable for them to put restrictions on what you can do with the code-- but it doesn't restrict what you can do with the *software*
that being said I license all my open source things as MIT these days; flirted with AGPL but decided it wasn't worth it
