In theory it'd be easy to add markdown support to regular posts on this instance, since it already *has* a markdown formatter
but my "willingness to tolerate the mastodon codebase" meter has been resting on E for a long, long time now
it's already possible to *view* formatting other instances send just fine here, that came naturally with allowing markdown on a certain type of post in the first place
