wonder how much i'm missing with private posts intentionally not federating

that's one downside to actually fanning out. i don't really see if people are sad and i can help, and i especially don't really want to admit to it out here where anyone can see it.

sometimes i crack and do it anyway, but not nearly as much as i used to

@KitRedgrave I think with the layout of Mastodon there's no real setup that can make me 100% happy with how I interact with everyone, but it's pretty close like this...

I had an awoo.space account for less than a week before the federation whitelist got on my nerves and I nuked it, but not having it means I miss some important statuses from other people...

@KS yeah. i still have a mastodon.social account that's private, but i don't often look at it. everyone left it after the scalepocalypse for smaller servers, which is a great thing for the health of the network.

you miss out on private posts, receiving half of what even happens, and having a special community but you gain in having situational awareness across the fediverse and in freedom
