I think I got to the bottom of that weird issue I was having with GtS validating signatures for some instances. Turns out if someone out there points to a different sub-domain than their instance is actually listed on with a well-known file, you have to expire keys on both domains to get it to actually take.

That or a couple of instances moved mid-stream so their keys are mixed between domains.

So if you notice a signature failure from some instance, expire their keys, and it still fails? Check that their keys actually expired and see if they're listed as being a different domain.

@trysdyn Could that be why I keep having trouble interacting with your instance from my own? Like, I don't even see replies you send to me unless they get brought to my instance's attention in some other way, nor do attempts to follow you actually take

@KS Your instance wasn't one of the ones in that list, but this works now??? idk

Kaito / Katie Sinclaire @KS

@trysdyn Still seemingly not, I have to notice the reply elsewhere and put it in my search box before it'll finally acknowledge it in my notifications, and follows still don't work. It's like it's not actually sending anything to my instance, hm
