I feel like with Pre-Check I essentially paid a bribe. Like, a fucking second-world-country style bribe. It was worth it for me though, because much like second-world-country bribes, without it, there is much more friction.
I bet after these rants I will never get Pre-Check again.
If you aren't sure what TSA Pre-Check is, it's basically a program where if you're a "low-risk traveller", you pay $85 for a background check akin to getting a security clearance, get fingerprinted, have your picture taken, etc. And in exchange for this charade, you don't have to take off your shoes or go through the pornoscanner.
And yes, they retain your fingerprints. And yes, the FBI has access. And yes, I knew that when I signed on.

It sucks and I can't imagine issues it causes for transfolk
