honestly, *why* does mastodon have a hard message size limit? i feel like having a cutoff where you had to go to the toot's page or a lightbox would expand showing the full toot would be really nice, and let users have the functionality of tumblr/microblogging while still keeping the twitter-esque feel of the feed
