@MightyPork considering upgrading results in merging and fixing conflicts for basically all day I think I would prefer to take my time

So I guess I'm running 1.6.1 now but still can't get private messages from 2.0 servers because ~MASTODON~

*Sylveon with unsteady footing*

We're, um, on 1.6.1 now? I think everything is working and nothing's exploding... yet...?

Going down shortly to attempt an upgrade to 1.6.1

Will I ever not feel inferior to everyone else ... ?

@KitRedgrave oh wait no the profile page change killed some of the fixes *cries*

@KitRedgrave on the plus side you get to see my code in action now!

even if it is only really making avatars not look like dumb shit

I do quite desperately need a better job, but I constantly get that sort of feeling of "who would hire me" and "what am I even good for anyway"

@bea and then just, lots of little nitpicks here and there about layout and organization and what should be shown (personally, I think a favorites count/list should be shown on the profile page, optionally per user) and what shouldn't (any private posts shouldn't show on profile pages, I feel they should be static?)

@bea most of the info pages also have messy layouts and in some cases incredibly poor contrast, about/more after it got changed most recently being a prime example

@bea I've never been a fan of profile pages as they've been in any version of Mastodon, I would rather try having profile info to the left side and posts to the right, along with possibly color themes and other customization (old Twitter!)

@bea it's not just the front end that I have issues with, really

But realistically that will probably never happen just due to the sheer time investment I would need

Slightly more likely but still improbable is forking Mastodon and just changing all the UI parts

Hmmmm.

If I had the time and energy, I would probably try my hand at making my own ActivityPub implementation. I find Mastodon's UI is rather lacking in a lot of ways

#programming a cool post about sorting algorithm visually illustrated imgur.com/gallery/RM3wl

This one is the bubble sort (on of the less efficient) : social.wxcafe.net/media/svdqn3

@yuu tip though: don't run release candidates

You're running a version with changes that break things for a significant number of users, anyone who doesn't have their server on 1.6 or newer cannot see your private posts or DMs

@revenant did you revoke tusky's auth at some point?
