@JTE There's one important thing you're missing about federation: Each instance only grabs exactly what it needs from every other instance. Following a dead user doesn't get you everything else they have.

Think of it more as e-mail rather than bitcoin.

@JTE @bea We don't set up followbots because the only thing they're good for is making the federated timeline a fast-moving mess (and pissing others off in the process)

@bea @JTE It's unlikely we'll be running glitch-soc in its current state due to valuing stability, but I was leaving the possibility open of cherry-picking profile metadata over there after extending the bio size

@bea (also, why does that server need to run behind cloudflare?)

@bea I like how if you actually check the accounts that bot is following, the profiles are loaded with [email protected] replacing innocuous japanese text

cloudflare continues to cloudfail

@typhlosion because of this I totally pulled up the old "sounds of sorting" video while at work =w=

@Elizafox
<random person on discord> @everyone hi!!!

ffs

@typhlosion you discard that hand RIGHT NOW mister

Lewd tangents

Why can I not rationalize anything I do as 'good' despite being told otherwise countless times

Why do I feel like everything I've ever done is insignificant

@shekkiesqueaks You're cool then. <3

Sorry, that's just not the vibe I was getting from the linked article though.

@shekkiesqueaks @HerraBRE If you want a free license, the MIT and Apache licenses are lovely for those purposes. Personally I use the zlib license for my works.

I absolutely hate the attempts to instill fear in / shame others because they don't want to indulge in viral "copyleft" licenses that offer them no protection to things that actually *matter* to people, like code theft.

@HerraBRE @shekkiesqueaks Shaming someone into abandoning their rights for the most anti-free license filled with viral BS is not something to be proud of.

@shekkiesqueaks this feels like trying to shame people into using the GPL and that is _bad_

@remmah I've been with them since February, their payment plan require like 40% down and I'm still unsure how much it would cost even to get teeth pulled - it was something like $700 for one tooth without insurance before (but that had to be surgically removed)

@noiob @boots gif -> other formats has problems with variable speed gifs as far as I know. Pretty sure something would go wrong with my avatar if it was stuck through ffmpeg.

@vahnj May have to get the tooth (teeth?) pulled to take care of it, which would be cheaper but I already went through that earlier this year and I don't know how well it would go over with my job and

Just a big ball of stress and pain right now x-x hoping the Ibuprofen I took will last for my shift
