so, Terminal Velocity's last episode takes a very sudden turn from "evil borg trying to take over the universe" to "evil borg ... trying to mass-produce harmless robots and worship (what is apparently) a supercomputer???"

the briefings you're given in the last episode get very bewildered and unsure at points about what is actually going on

that moment where you go "I bet the creepiness associated with this video-game related thing from my childhood was just a product of me being young and it's actually not that creepy"

and then you look it up and it's actually creepier than you remembered

I just wasn't expecting for it to be so easy to mix the two games together

@marlyn @unascribed long story, but I was part of a small in-group of people that had direct contact with notch back in the alpha/beta days (Esper/#mojang, since the IRC channel is obviously long dead)

@unascribed notch was an asshole even back in alpha/beta days, he just hid it better

don't think i'll ever forget the time he used us as a scapegoat for the community complaining about how buggy a beta build was

say what you want about it, but Sonic 4 Episode 1 is the only Sonic game released in like, the past 20 years that I still get occasional desires to replay.

Even Sonic Mania, it was alright, but I don't really want to pick it up again when the game starts out with such a slog and only picks up later.

this was a real pain to get working on proton, because the launcher requires a specific ancient version of the JRE

but everything went swimmingly afterward
