@Tamber It was notch's response to somebody reporting shortly after the Halloween update, that trying to sleep in a bed in the nether always gave "You can only sleep at night"

"Beds explode in the nether if you try to use them" is the most petty bullshit way to fix a bug I've ever seen, and perfectly fits notch's ethos

@flussence there is literally not a single point to this game's history where I felt hostile mobs added *anything* to the game whatsoever, and that dates back to the introduction of SMP

minecraft has some of the worst combat i've ever had the displeasure of playing

every mob is balanced in a vacuum to be painfully difficult, and then multiple are spawned at once at an extremely high rate

I *knew* there was a reason I refused to play minecraft on anything but peaceful, and I just rediscovered it

there was a silverfish infested stone block at y=55, what in the world

I thought at least those would only show up really far down, but I guess I need to be careful wherever

I go out to pick up food, come back, and open the door to my sleeping area to this sight

honestly forgot how much I hate, *hate* minecraft mobs

i just want to build and explore, and minecraft's combat is absolute trash anyway
