one annoying thing pleroma seems to do is still "mention" people even without an actual mention in the post

most easily seen with cwed self replies, which show the user mentioning themselves before you open the cw, which disappears after

but i've also gotten a few replies to toots that have no mentions at all, but still show in my notifications column as a mention anyway

@TonicBH i should mention, these were little premade things you would clip/slip onto the bottom of your gdc passes

there were only he/him, she/her, and they/them as far as i know

okay, so, when i was at gdc there were a few people on birdsite i saw going after anyone that was there and wasn't wearing a pronoun tag, because "even the cis people should wear them to normalize them"

so what the heck am i supposed to do then, when i don't feel comfortable wearing any tags at all since i'm genderfluid?
